Neurotoxins (Xeomin, Botox) At Trinity Medical Spa

What are Neurotoxins?

Neurotoxins work specifically on dynamic wrinkle, one of the two types of wrinkles that can cause and aged effects, the other being static lines or wrinkles.

Dynamic lines or wrinkles are those wrinkles and lines that appear when you smile, frown, laugh, or during dynamic motion of the face

Static lines or wrinkles are those facial lines that are evident even when our face is at rest and are due to volume loss and are better treated with dermal fillers.

Botulinum Toxin is for dynamic wrinkling. It is a muscle relaxing agent so it will soften the wrinkles and lines that occur from a dynamic facial movement, such as between the brows with frowning….or the crow' s feet from smiling… or around the mouth from excessive pursing of the lips. With aging, this repetitive motion the skin starts to show strain and deep folds and tiny wrinkles start to develop. Botulinum Toxin will also help prevent a mouth frown by relaxing the muscles that exert a downward pull to the mouth.

Alternative cosmetic uses of Botulinum Toxin on the décolleté

For the body: Botulinum Toxin injections also can be used to block chemical signals from nerves that stimulate sweat glands.

Botulinum Toxin may also be used for chronic migraines. Botulism Toxin is injected into fixed-sites in varying locations, including the forehead, temples and potentially extending into the neck muscles. According to Allergan, the manufacturer of Botulinum Toxin, Phase III clinical trials showed a significantly greater decrease in headache days among patients receiving Botulinum Toxin, compared with those receiving a placebo. There are numerous medical conditions for which Botulinum Toxin is used.

Botox is a neuromodulator administered via tiny injections that soften the appearance of movement-related facial wrinkles. It is made from a naturally occurring protein that has been refined and produced in a lab. It has been used safely with extremely high patient satisfaction for over 25 years!

During treatment, Botox is injected directly into the wrinkles. Once injected, Botox softens the nerve impulses in the surrounding muscles, forcing them to relax instead of contract. As a result, corresponding wrinkles soften and disappear.

It usually takes less than 15 minutes to perform Botox injections with no downtime, making it the perfect treatment for even the busiest schedules.

deal candidates for Botox include men and women who want to improve the appearance of various wrinkles including:

  • Glabella frown lines between the eyebrows (sometimes called “11 lines”)
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Horizontal lines across the forehead
  • “Bunny lines” that appear when scrunching the nose
  • Vertical neck bands
  • Lift the tip of a drooping nose
  • Turn up downward pull of the corners of the mouth
  • Wrinkles around the mouth with puckering
  • A “gummy” smile
  • Pebbly or orange peel appearing wrinkling of the chin
  • Tightening of the jawline via the Botox Nefertiti Lift to relax downward pull on the jawline

It is anticipated that one series of injections will last up to 3 to 4 months

What are Neuromodulators, such as Botox, and Xiomen?

Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin - commercially known as Botox Cosmetic, Xiomen, and Dysport. They are used to treat wrinkles, frown lines and crows feet.

How do Neuromodulators work?

Neuromodulators work by relaxing muscles to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in the face and neck. These treatments can help combat smile lines, forehead lines and other wrinkles associated with age, genetics, and/or activity.

What are the benefits of Neuromodulators?

A combination of factors can cause facial lines. It’s not just about the cellular changes that may occur, or reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals from the sun and the environment.

Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick 10-minute treatment that works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults – to help them look better. However with appropriate treatments, wrinkles can be both treated and prevented with the help of Neuromodulators - Botox, Xiomen, Dysport.
